Haley, I so relate to all your comments about losing weight. I am 56 years old and I am on a journey to lose weight and keep it off. I too have lost weight and regained and it just isn’t a pretty story. Last August 2012 I started this journey knowing that I had to change alot of my ways. I guess one of my biggest issue is I turned to food for comfort. I have been a child of God for many years and deep in my heart I knew better but I held on to the thought that food is comfort. Recently my 19 year old daughter (who battles her weight) read a book called gods at war by Kyle Idleman and I was very convicted when he talked about the gods of food and how food was what I chose over Jesus. I plan on getting the book you are using and diving into it. Just so you know I have lost 108 pounds and I a good bit to go but I will get there with God’s help. I want you to know that I will be praying for you and you can do this with God’s help. I want to share one more thing that I heard from a sermon that Andy Stanley preached. He was talking about Nehemiah rebuilding the wall and how we have to purpose in our heart to do the things we should do. If you have a chance read Nehemiah 6:1-3. Stay on the wall because you are doing a great work…..We shall overcome!! In Christ Love Pam Smith.

When I read Haleys blog, it stirred me. In 2007, I began a journey to get healthy. Joined Weight Watchers, began seeking exercise I would stick with and over a year lost 96 lbs. I maintained that weight, encouraged others and loved the attention I was getting. I was always quick to throw some of the glory to God. Almost 2 years ago, I got married. At the same time, my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, my son was suicidal cutting himself and wounded deeply by the church. Life was turned upside down. My eating began to consume my every waking moment, exercise became what I craved. Old habits came creeping back and so did 10 lbs. Now that doesnt seem like much but what is “much” is how I stopped turning to God for comfort. I am tired of life revolving around food. I just want to be healthy…Healthy physically, spiritually. I am excited about this journey.

I have been struggling with my weight for 6 yrs, due to thyroid problems. I am constantly going from hypo to hyper. Which makes it very hard to loose because am constantly cravings carbs. I am on day four of this, I can already tell a difference in my appetite. Praise the Lord!! I seem to have more will power to push away! And I do not seem to be craving the sweets as much!

Can you tell me the name of the song that talks about what we crave? It was playing in the background of your promos for the “Made to Crave” challenge… Thanks!
