The High Springs Methodist Church was organized in 1894. Rev. J. B. Davis was the first pastor of our congregation. Church services were held at the Baptist Church until the first building was completed in 1895. This first building was destroyed by a hurricane in 1896 and a new building completed in 1898. This building was modified and enlarged, and used until June, 1985, when the congregation outgrew the facilities and moved to our current building.
What do United Methodists believe? We share the historic Christian faith passed down through the centuries, with a unique history and distinctive emphases. We believe in one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God saves us and restores and heals all of creation. We believe God loves and is present with every person – even before they’re aware of it. God seeks to make us whole and holy. The Bible is our primary source for understanding God’s will for our lives and for the world. John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement in England, emphasized God’s grace.
