Storms In Life

bio-domeHave you heard of the Bio-Dome?  No, not the movie from the 90s with Pauly Shore (which is a hysterical classic by the way). The actual Bio-dome experiment in the early 80s.  Scientists set out to create the perfect living environment for humans, plants and animals. They created this huge glass dome meant to control the environment, purifying air and water, filtering light and other environmental conditions. It was going to be perfect. That is, until all the trees reached a certain height and fell over. You know what they discovered?  The trees didn’t have strong roots because there were no storms or winds within the dome.  When trees experience storms, their roots grow stronger and deeper, ultimately allowing them to reach towering heights.

Unfortunately, in life troubles are guaranteed.  But, as children of God, we can have hope in the trials.  "Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."  - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.

God is using the storms in our lives to root our faith in Him.  But we can learn so much from the Bio-dome experiment. The researchers created strong, simulated winds in the glass sphere, and the trees grew strong roots and stopped tipping over.  God has a purpose and plan for the storm you are facing right now, one that will keep YOU from falling. Trust that the roots He is creating in you now will help you weather any future storm.
