Description:
Responsibilities: -Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, physical, and spiritual needs -Utilize developmentally appropriate practices and best practice methods -Be responsible for students from the time they arrive in the classroom until they are picked up by their parents/guardians -Communicate regularly with the director especially around schedule changes and absences and any concerns about students and/or families -Report serious accidents to the preschool director and file an incident report in the preschool database -Attend monthly staff meetings and other scheduled staff enrichment and planning days -Work with other teachers as a team and create a thoughtful, caring, and loving preschool environment -Direct Teacher Assistant (if one is present in the classroom) -Dress professionally and appropriately for working with young children -Complete infant CPR and First Aid training -Assist with carline at the beginning and end of the school day -Develop and teach lesson plans that accomplish the class objectives as outlined in the Starfall curriculum and/or "learn through play" activities -Regularly incorporate age-appropriate music and art projects in the classroom -Evaluate students’ progress twice a year and meet with parents/guardians for conferences (if required) -Change diapered children at set times during the day and follow the school policy for diaper-changing -Organize and monitor mealtime for children old enough to feed themselves; help and/or feed children who are unable to feed themselves -Maintain student records and attendance and be aware of particular students’ special needs (e.g. allergies) -Communicate professionally and respectfully with students’ parents/guardians. Handle concerns sensitively and confidentially. -Handle discipline issues with students in a caring and gracious manner -Follow classroom cleaning policies
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma Professional: Three years of experience of early childhood education and/or working with preschool-aged children Personal: 1. Be well organized and capable of following through to completion on programs and ideas. 2. Possess good communication skills in working with young children, their families, and co-workers 3. Exhibit a commitment to Jesus Christ and his church. 4. Have a loving and positive attitude. 5. Monday-Friday 8:45a.m.-1:15 p.m.
