Day 4 - Don’t Be Anxious

Thursday, October 10, 2024

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Political seasons are marked by fear that, if your party loses, all is lost. But Jesus teaches a different way. Paul wrote the words above as a political prisoner. He told the church to rejoice always (Phil. 4:4). He reminded them that the Lord is near (Phil. 4:5), and gave them assurance that their prayer would produce God’s peace (Phil. 4:7), so they could live out what is good (Phil. 4:8-9).

  • Ask God for what you want!

  • Do it with thanksgiving, trusting him to bring what is good and right.

Lord, we want what is good, not just for us, but for our whole country. We trust you even as we hear words of fear and are concerned about losing what we value. Thank you for your peace, that we can work together for good, and not be anxious. Amen.
